Missy Medeiros is a professional stylist that has been serving the Manchester, New Hampshire community for more than eighteen years. She provides affordable beauty-related services for more than 250 regular clients, including haircuts, styles, perms, colors, and waxing. |
| Challenges: |
Due in-part to an aging client population and a struggling economy, Missy was faced with three key issues:
- Some of her older clients had passed away or moved into assisted living;
- Many of her clients were cutting back on beauty-related expenses and waiting longer in-between services;
- Walk-in clients are generally not shared between stylists at the salon where she rents space, and so it’s important for new clients to ask for her by name;
Missy contacted Synergy Codeworks to help her create and execute a two-fold strategy for expanding her existing clientele and increasing the average number of services provided for each client. |

- Build a Personal Brand
In order to differentiate her as a stylist, Synergy helped to create a revitalized personal brand for Missy. The design of the logo and supporting materials were inspired by a butterfly tattoo that Missy has on her wrist, which is visible in the mirror when she styles hair.
- Reach Out to Employees at a Large, Local Business
The salon where Missy rents space is less than a half mile from Catholic Medical Center (CMC), which is a non-profit facility that has more than 1,500 employees. The Human Resources department at CMC provides a service for local businesses where they will send out a monthly email communication to all employees as long as the business agrees to provide varied specials every month that apply to both new and existing clients. From here, the “Highlights” monthly newsletter was born.
- Deliver a “Highlights” Monthly Newsletter
The Highlights Monthly Newsletter is delivered via Synergy's email marketing tool, built on the MyEmma framework. Using a template designed to match her new personal brand, Synergy delivers stylish, informative beauty-related information to Missy’s clients and the staff at Catholic Medical Center via our full-service email marketing offering.
- Create a New Website
The Highlights Monthly Newsletter ultimately drives traffic to Missy’s new website, www.QueenCityStyle.com, where visitors can find additional tips, tricks, specials, and beauty-related advice. The web address was chosen in a brainstorming session because Manchester, New Hampshire is well known as the “Queen City” and the URL was easy to spell and remember.
