There's been a lot of talk about Oracle Corporation's newfound interest in Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) platform.  Oracle has preconfigured Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) with Enterprise Business Suite already set up and ready to turn on.

At the time this is being written, Oracle AMIs are only available in the High Memory family of instance types.  We wanted to know if it was possible to set up Oracle's R12 Vision Enterprise Business Suite demo in a more cost-effective manner.

We used an Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) 5.5 instance and found that with a little configuration you can create an affordable R12 Vision demo server set up in little more time than it takes you to run the installer.  Here's how we did it.
