Our Own Kristi Pearse Sets Maine State Women's Skydiving Record

Posted in Fun Stuff

kristi-candid2sOur very own Joomla creativeworker Kristi Pearse helped set the Maine state record for the largest all-female formation over Skydive New England in Lebanon, Maine.  The USPA certified the record as official in the October 2011 issue of Parachutist Magazine.

From the article:

Seventeen women from Skydive New England in Lebanon, Maine, achieved the state record for largest all-female formation on July 22. Judge Jim Reese and Safety & Training Advisor Eli Bolotin attested that the formation completed, and USPA has since certified it as official. The new record holders are Nicole Bedard, Ivett Breda, Jennifer Cook, Meaghan Costello, Jennifer Duffy, Una Dunne, Emma Linn, Jacqueline Fee, Jill Herrington, Jill Kenney, Kris Lafond, Sara LaWare, Anne Levasseur, Samantha Lord, Kristi Pearse, Melissa Zender, and Molly Zglobicki.

Oracle HCM Users Group Live on the New Emma API

Written by John Hobart, Posted in MyEmma

We are pleased to announce our first full integration using the new Emma API.

ohuglogoFully integrated with Joomla and JomSocial, changes to user profiles are reflected in Emma in near real-time.  Users are automatically segmented by interest and the frequency with which they prefer to receive email updates from the group.

We used our new MyEmmaPHP in conjunction with a little cron job on an Amazon EC2 instance to migrate user profiles as they are updated by the end users.

BadBoysFinishFirst.com Live on the New Emma API

Written by John Hobart, Posted in MyEmma

emma-logoWe're very excited to announce that the long-awaited API for Emma is now in limited release to developers.  We've been eagerly waiting in the wings for the launch.

We got our hands on the API this afternoon, and are very glad to report that it took us all of about 15 minutes to port over BadBoysFinishFirst.com from RemoteSignup to the new API.

We are looking forward very much to exploring all this new API has to offer!  Matt Thackston, the API maestro at Emma, reports that in addition to a more elegant SOA approach to remote signups, the API will bring the following functionality to the community:

Oracle Learning Management Bug: Course Status Changes to Unenrolled When Pending Evaluation or eSignature

Written by Anne Saulnier, Posted in Oracle, Oracle Learning Management

Oracle Learning Management Issue with Status Updates in Release 12.1.3

If you require an evaluation or eSignature for a class that is part of a Learning Path or Learning Certification, the status for classes that have online offerings will update to Unenrolled on the Learning Plan and/or Learning Certification page after the Learner has completed the training. The Player Status will reflect properly to show that they have completed the online class.

The status reflects properly on the home page, but there’s no visual indicator to the Learner on the Learning Path or Certification page that there is an additional step to complete.

Profile Option to Temporarily Disable Enrollment Requests of Any Kind in Oracle Learning Management

Written by Anne Saulnier, Posted in Oracle, Oracle Learning Management

Preventing Users from enrolling in Classes while still allowing access to view the entire contents of the Course Catalog

There is a profile option in Oracle Learning Management called "OTA:Read-Only Enrollment Message" (OTA_SSHR_ENROLL_READ_ONLY_MESSAGE) that I think is a hidden gem for temporarily restricting enrollments of any kind in your Oracle Learning Management (OLM) system.

Have you ever had an occasion when you wanted to allow a new hire or a group of employees to browse the Catalog and see training that is listed, but perhaps not allow them to request enrollment in anything?

Joomla Extensions Directory Submission Guidelines

Posted in Joomla!

Where are the Joomla Extensions Directory Error Codes for Submissions?

weakchain2As far as I can tell, this is one of the best-hidden pages on the internet.

When submitting extensions to the Joomla Extensions Directory, you are presented with several severe warnings clearly aimed at keeping over-eager coders from drowning the extension review staff with inquiries on the status of their submissions.  A conspicuous warning states that "Inquiring before that time will cause your listing to be suspended for 60 days."  Yikes.

While abundantly obvious that inquiries are not welcome, there is also no link to the submission guidelines, or common causes for rejection.
